As we have been following the Scriptures, we have seen God revealed as the Creator of EVERYTHING. And that humans, like you and me, were created to reflect his Glory in all that we are and in all that we do...we were made in his image and likeness. We also see that humans have fallen glaringly short of God's glory and are in need of redemption, reconciliation, renovation, re-creation. We have discovered how God has worked through Abram (Abraham), Isaac, Jacob (Israel) and the children of Israel to bring blessing to the world and now has ultimately come, in human flesh, as "the One Who Is" (the LORD, Jesus the Messiah), to take away the sin of the world (and all the associated and accompanying death and decay and suffering) and to demonstrate what it means to truly be human after all, after "the fall". We read in Acts 1 that this Jesus who ascended to the Father, will also return in the same way to this earth. He will come to make all things new and accomplish the final work of bringing grace and peace, justice and judgment.
But in the meantime, he is also at work through the Holy Spirit to bring this message of hope to all who will believe. And he will bring it to every corner of every nation. In Acts 2 we find the amazing, breath-taking birth of this movement of the Holy Spirit within this new people of God (the Church) and it gives us a reminder of our continued work and calling among the nations to reclaim our first calling...to reflect the glory of God in all that we are and in all that we do. This weekend let's come together again and re-center on Christ, remember our calling, and recall what in the world God is doing!
Grace and peace,
