February 25th Update Pastor Gail Mitchell
Darlene and Patti are down in the food bank restocking the shelves after we picked up groceries at HACAP. We are able to get large quantities at very low prices there, it is an excellent deal. The freezer is full and the shelves are stocked. But-we can't get everything we need from HACAP. What do we still need? Canned fruit, meat of all kinds, canned and frozen, and especially toilet paper. It is sometimes easiest if we just get money, then someone can make a trip to the store to meet immediate needs. Thanks for supporting this ministry.
We got several small project out of the way on Thursday morning. Special thanks to Evan and Gene for their good work.
Tonight we are hosting ARC of Eastern Iowa. They have a chili dinner to raise funds. We are glad to help this great organization.
Several of our people were recently spotted at the Big White House in Coralville. We were invited to the Ash Wednesday service by Genesis. It was a great setting for an intimate reflection on the Sacrifice of Christ. They will be hosting us again on Good Friday. I hope many more will attend. Genesis Church will join us again this year for Easter, and for Easter Breakfast.

Marge Mitchell 354-8604 Sharon Good 430-9939
Directions to my home at 3729 Donegal Ct: Melrose Ave to Galway Dr; Galway Dr to the "no outlet" sign; turn left on Donegal Ct; my house is the 6th house on the right. I used to have a star on my garage, but the wind blew it off. The snow pile has covered the house number on the mailbox, so look for the house number 3729 below the light on the left side of the garage (or the dangling extension cord where the star used to be...)

The Big White House Events 1246 12th Ave. Coralville
PW Gopal - A House Concert 6:30 pm Thursday February 25th
PW is known for his dynamic vocal range and storytelling...it is his ability to snapshot the human condition that has brought him critical acclaim. Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:30 with PW on stage at 7:00 pm. He will also share a conversation to shed light on the darkness of human trafficking, so use wisdom in bringing children.

Both Districts voted YES !
THE RESULTS: Yes! February 6th, delegates, pastors, and guests came together for the final gathering of the 2009 IBC Annual Meeting... and voted unanimously to merge the IBC with the MBC to form a new district... the Minnesota-Iowa Baptist Conference!
At the same time that we were meeting in Iowa, Minnesota delegates and pastors were meeting in Minneapolis... and they also voted overwhelmingly in favor of merging the two districts!
And so... after nearly three years of surveys, proposals, committee meetings, town hall meetings, annual meetings, board meetings, LEAD team meetings, transition team meetings, and more... plus much, much concerted prayer... we've finally arrived at "aNEWthing!"
The "transition pieces" of our merger with Trout Lake Camps are also now ready for our full attention. Trout Lake Executive Director, Jon "Wick" Wicklund, delivered a new bell from one of the Minnesota Churches. At the same meeting, on behalf of the Minnesota Baptist Conference and Trout Lake Camps, he greeted us and challenged us for the new relationship and the new journey we are forging together. Great days are ahead! Trout Lake Camps also had something they were willing to share... leadership... vision... successful ministry history... and more! They are already sharing those things on our behalf in many ways. Have you viewed our new website? If not, check it out at www.pinelakecamps.org. Our 2010 summer brochure is also completed and in the mail... with a new look and new opportunities. Look for them! As the days quickly ramp up to April 1st and the official integration of our camping ministries, there will be new faces and more news. The pieces will quickly come together... keep a look out! Listen for a new sound from Pine Lake in many ways... and... please pass the word!
