Important Meeting
Our Family Matters meeting on Sunday after church is quite important. I have heard a lot of questions about how things are going to change the first of the year. This will be a great opportunity for you to know what we know. I can tell you little bits here. Starting Christmas day we will meet at 10:30 am and continue the new time indefinitely. Starting January 8th Sunday School will be from 9:30 to 10:15. There will be a very informal Bible study Saturday evening at the Big White House, and an informal worship time on Sunday at 9am at the BWH. Some of the Genesis congregation will join us for worship here at the River, we don’t know how many this will involve. We do know that we will have to reach out and get to know the Genesis people, and then try to remain warm and welcoming for visitors.
The two congregations will maintain their current leadership structure, membership and budget. One offering will be taken and the checks given to the indicated church. At the same time we will have a need to mix our ministry teams: nursery and kids workers, ushers and greeters, etc. It is important for Genesis to maintain their identity and sense of mission so they can stay in touch with the progress on their new worship facility in Coralville.
Please pray for a smooth transition to this new schedule, for momentum to build up our congregation during this combined time, and for the successful relaunch of Genesis when their building is done. Pray that both churches will be adequately financed, that income won’t drop at either church, and Our coming together will be a great advance for God’s kingdom.
