Greetings, "Body"
Greetings, "Body".
For that's what you (and I) are. We are the Body of Christ. If we have placed our faith in Him by dying to our self and being raised to new life in his Name (symbolically demonstrated through our baptism), we are then His and part of His Church, metaphorically called his "Body". Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church...we are the Body. He has appointed overseers (elders, pastors) and servers (deacons) to work together in helping each local church to be faithful to Him and to flesh out His love to one another and to our community. Together we are about the ministry of the Gospel...to make disciples of our Lord among all nations. Each of us is gifted by the Holy Spirit for this work and in bringing glory to God.
So then, what does "membership" look like in this local church? When one commits to the River Community Church as a "member" what does that mean? How do we practice "church membership" here? Sunday, we will examine local church membership. Pastor Steve will join me in how membership is "fleshed out" here at the River. Come, let us worship our great God and King this Sunday....together!
God's grace and peace to you all,
Dave
